SSB secures 2,450-km open border with Nepal, Bhutan: minister

Union minister of state for home affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar inaugurated 48 newly constructed Type-III separated family accommodation units at the Sashastra Seema Bal campus in Ibrahimpatnam, Hyderabad. He said the accommodations symbolise the government's commitment to the welfare of SSB personnel and their families.

The minister noted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and home minister Amit Shah, the ministry is strengthening operational capabilities, modernisation, infrastructure and welfare of Central Armed Police Forces. SSB has completed construction of 10,029 residential units so far, with 1,273 more under way.

SSB guards about 2,450 km of open international borders with Nepal and Bhutan. In 2025-26, the force rescued 661 victims of human trafficking and apprehended 6,324 persons involved in illegal activities. SSB uses drones, CCTV, thermal imagers and GPS-based patrolling to enhance border management.
