Separate KSISF battalion sought for Kalyana Karnataka

The Karnataka State Police Complaints Authority has recommended the creation of a fifth battalion of the Karnataka State Industrial Security Force with its headquarters in Kalaburagi. In a letter to the Home Department, authority member Mohan Kumar Danappa said the Kalyana Karnataka region lacks a dedicated battalion despite hosting eight critical installations, including two airports, the Kalaburagi Bench of the High Court, and two central prisons. More than 600 posts have been sanctioned for these sites, but personnel are yet to be deployed at locations such as Hutti Gold Mines and Yermarus Thermal Power Station due to manpower shortages.

Danappa argued that establishing a battalion in Kalaburagi would address regional imbalance, create jobs for local youth, and resolve promotion issues faced by over 400 officers currently posted in the region. He proposed using the old IGP office building in Kalaburagi as the commandant's office to avoid major infrastructure costs. Since the installations are willing to bear the full cost of security, the new battalion would not add financial burden on the State government, he claimed.
