Bengal CM Suvendu Adhikari offers to face public test in 2027

West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has said he will sit for a public 'test' on May 9, 2027, the first anniversary of his government, and accept failure if he scores below nine out of 10. Hindustan Times reports that Adhikari made the statement in Purulia while laying the foundation stone of a Rs 4,000 crore private steel plant and inaugurating a Rs 1,300 crore drinking water project.

The Federal adds that Adhikari's remarks came on the 100th day of his government. He said the test would be based on the work done, not political claims. Adhikari also warned against corruption, saying no one should ask for even one rupee for government schemes. He cited recent arrests of officials taking bribes.

Both outlets report that the BJP has released a 41-page booklet titled '100 Days of Resolve and Achievements' for a door-to-door campaign. Adhikari promised that nearly 30 lakh new houses would be built under the Awas Yojana and that about one lakh people, including teachers and police, would be recruited by 2027.
