Taapsee Pannu recalls lack of respect, unequal treatment on film sets

Taapsee Pannu has spoken about her early days in the Telugu film industry, saying she did not receive basic respect and was made to sit alone on a plastic chair. Greatandhra.com reports she was the only female on set and felt uncomfortable during certain scenes. She also said male and female actors were treated differently in reporting times, hotel rooms and transport.

In a separate interview covered by M9.news, Taapsee revealed that a male co-star got her introduction scene changed without her knowledge. She said the director's response was a 'harsh reality check' but did not name the actor or film. Bollywoodhungama.com reports she has turned down roles to avoid typecasting, telling makers that casting her in predictable roles would be 'bad for your film'.

Taapsee will next be seen in the Netflix film 'Gandhari', a revenge action-thriller directed by Devashish Makhija. The film premieres on September 3.
