Telangana to build G+10 housing for poor in CURE area

Telangana will build ground-plus-10-floor apartment complexes for the poor on government land in the Hyderabad CURE area, Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said on Tuesday. He was speaking after laying the foundation stone for Indiramma Towers at Red Hills in Nampally. The minister said 480 beneficiaries were selected through a draw and will get flats with a market value of Rs 80 lakh to Rs 1 crore each. Construction at 17 locations has been tendered and work will start soon, with completion targeted before the next elections.

The government will register flats in beneficiaries' names without registration charges, enabling them to use the homes as collateral for loans. Ponguleti said homes would be built where the poor already live, unlike the previous government which built houses 30-40 km away. Minorities Minister Mohammed Azharuddin, who handed over allotment letters, said the central location gives beneficiaries access to schools, hospitals and transport. He appealed for communal harmony and cooperation with authorities.
