Tripura West District to begin electoral roll revision on Sept 5

The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls will begin on September 5 in Tripura's West District, with the final list scheduled for publication on December 23, the district administration announced on Friday. West Tripura District Magistrate and Collector Vishal Kumar said the exercise aims to prepare a clean, accurate and updated electoral register.

Booth Level Officers will provide forms to voters and facilitate verification and enrolment during the process. A draft electoral roll will be published for public scrutiny, after which the administration will invite claims and objections from stakeholders. Hearings will be conducted before the final roll is published.

Kumar said the revision will ensure eligible Indian citizens remain on the roll while ineligible voters, fake and duplicate entries are removed through the prescribed procedure. He urged political parties and stakeholders to cooperate, adding the process will be transparent, participatory and fair.
