Lucknow banker kills wife, sister, then himself

A State Bank of India employee, Manas Vajpeyi, shot his wife Divya Mishra outside an ICICI Bank branch in Lucknow's Gomti Nagar on Thursday before killing his sister and himself, police said. Divya worked as a relationship manager at the bank. The couple had been married for around 12 years but were living separately for over a year, and she had filed for divorce last year, according to police.

After shooting his wife around noon, Vajpeyi returned home, allegedly shot his sister Sheeba Vajpeyi (28), and then turned the weapon on himself. Three pistols were recovered from the house. Before dying, he posted a WhatsApp status alleging his wife had 'betrayed' him. Police said the sister had been suffering from depression for about three years. Divya's sister, journalist Pragya Mishra, confirmed the incident on social media and alleged her sister had been living separately due to Vajpeyi's 'psychotic behaviour'.

Police are investigating the incident as a family dispute. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem. The exact sequence of events is not yet clear, the Police Commissioner said, and forensic teams are examining evidence from both crime scenes.
