US widens H-1B fraud probe after Texas video exposé

The US Department of Labor's Office of Inspector General has expanded its investigation into alleged H-1B visa fraud in Texas, partnering with commentator Sara Gonzales and BlazeTV. In a social-media post, the watchdog shared a video in which Gonzales confronts a business operator over alleged abuse of the foreign-worker programme, saying: "The fight continues."

The DOL OIG has also conducted door-to-door checks at Dallas-area offices linked to companies with more than 500 approved H-1B petitions. The agency has said several locations appeared inactive, but has not accused any firm of fraud. The probe is part of a nationwide crackdown on employers, immigration attorneys, and labour brokers suspected of exploiting the programme. The agency has previously warned that the H-1B system is vulnerable to widespread abuse.

Hindustan Times reports that the OIG's decision to publicly amplify Gonzales's work signals a heightened enforcement priority. No specific enforcement actions have been announced from the Texas investigation so far.
