Varanasi airport accidental gunshot wounds two staff

At Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport in Varanasi, an accidental gunshot from a passenger's pistol injured two staff members on Sunday. According to Aaj Tak, the passenger, a resident of Azamgarh who was travelling to Mumbai on an Air India flight, had declared his pistol and magazine to authorities during security procedures. The bullet discharged during a weapons and document check, ricocheted off the floor, and struck a male employee's hand and a female employee's thigh.

Airport director Puneet Gupta said the weapon and papers were being inspected when the incident occurred, and that both injured staff members are in stable condition and receiving treatment at a private hospital in Harhua. The passenger had declared the weapon as required, and authorities are investigating the circumstances of the accidental discharge.
