Girl, 12, killed as speeding DTC bus hits scooter in east Delhi

A 12-year-old girl was killed and her uncle injured when a DTC bus hit their scooter on Dallupura Road in east Delhi on Friday morning. The bus was allegedly speeding and came from the wrong side, police said. The girl, Kayna Pal, a Class 8 student, was on her way to school for Independence Day celebrations. Her uncle, Tinku Kumar, sustained injuries.

The driver, identified as SK Murad (45), fled after the accident but was later apprehended by police. Residents and passersby allegedly vandalised the bus after the incident. The Times of India reports that the bus was an electric bus. Hindustan Times adds that the family has demanded strict action against the driver, describing Kayna as a class topper who had won a science quiz.

Police have registered a case and are investigating. DTC has not commented on the accident. The incident follows another fatal crash in Najafgarh on Saturday, where a man died after a DTC bus hit his scooter.
