AB de Villiers, Ollie Robinson praise incoming England Test coach Stephen Fleming

AB de Villiers has praised Stephen Fleming, calling him an accomplished coach and a great cricket brain, after the former New Zealand captain was appointed England's Test head coach. Speaking on his YouTube channel, de Villiers said Fleming would take pressure off captain Joe Root and the players. Fleming, a five-time IPL-winning coach with Chennai Super Kings, will officially take charge in December, with Marcus Trescothick acting as interim coach for the Pakistan series starting August 19.

Fast bowler Ollie Robinson told The i Paper he had heard good things about Fleming and looked forward to an exciting new era. He admitted the dressing room was shocked by Ben Stokes's retirement and Brendon McCullum's sacking after England's series defeat to New Zealand. Robinson, aiming to return for the Pakistan series, said England must be ruthless and aim for a 3-0 win. He is working on his fitness with the England medical team and director Rob Key ahead of the tour.
