Abhay Singh, Anahat Singh settle for silver in Asian Games squash finals

India's Abhay Singh lost the men's singles squash final at the Asian Games 2026 on Sunday, going down 0-3 to Malaysia's defending champion Eain Yow Ng. The world No. 26 Indian lost 11-9, 11-5, 11-5 in a match lasting 21 minutes. Later, Anahat Singh lost the women's singles final 4-11, 4-11, 7-11 to world No. 5 Sivasangari Subramaniam, who retained her gold. Both Indian players won silver, with Anahat achieving the best ever result by an Indian woman in squash at the Games.

The Malaysian winners not only retained their titles but also became the first squash players to directly qualify for the Los Angeles Olympics 2028, where squash makes its Olympic debut. Sportstar reports that Abhay is only the second Indian to win a men's singles silver after Saurav Ghosal, while Anahat, at 18, is the first Indian woman to reach the final. The team events begin on Monday, with the Indian men's team defending champion and the women's team bronze medallist.
