American filmmaker gets free treatment at Odisha rural hospital

American filmmaker Mike has gone viral on Instagram after receiving free treatment at a rural government hospital in Odisha. He fell ill on the fifth day of his India trip, vomiting every 15 minutes for 12 hours after overindulging in local food.

Mike was given IV fluids, anti-nausea medication, and two injections. He said similar care in the US could have cost thousands of dollars, but the hospital did not charge him anything. 'It made me sick,' he added sarcastically.

NDTV reports the video has over 465,000 views. Social media users praised Odisha's public healthcare, with some noting patients may pay only Rs 150-250 for medicines. Mike clarified his illness was not food poisoning but overeating.
