Awarapan 2 earns Rs 110 crore worldwide in opening weekend

Emraan Hashmi's Awarapan 2 has grossed Rs 110.10 crore worldwide in its opening weekend, including Rs 98.10 crore from India and Rs 12 crore from overseas, according to trade tracker Sacnilk. The film, directed by Nitin Kakkar, earned Rs 31.20 crore in India on its third day, Sunday. It is Hashmi's highest-grossing solo film in India, as per Bollywood Hungama.

Koimoi.com reports the film earned Rs 84.31 crore net in India against a Rs 45 crore budget, giving a profit of 87.35%. It recovered its budget within 48 hours. To enter the top five most profitable Independence Day releases of the last decade, the film needs Rs 103.95 crore net in India, surpassing Akshay Kumar's OMG 2 which had a 131% return on Rs 65 crore budget.

Meanwhile, producer Vishesh Bhatt confirmed to Zoom that scripting for Jannat 3, also starring Hashmi, is underway. The original Awarapan (2007) was a flop with a lifetime collection of Rs 13 crore. The sequel features Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi.
