Bengaluru civil engineer kills techie wife, dies by suicide

Bengaluru: A civil engineer killed his software engineer wife by suffocating her with a pillow before hanging himself, police said. Sumant Jain, 32, sent a WhatsApp voice note to his mother after an argument over house ownership, alleging his wife said 'This house is mine'. He then ended his life.

Jain and Padmavathi, 29, were found dead at their rented home in Laggere on Thursday. Padmavathi's family alleged murder. Police said Jain hit her and suffocated her. When he realised she was not breathing, he panicked and called his mother before killing himself.

Deputy commissioner of police Nagesh DL said the exact sequence and cause of death are yet to be established. A case has been registered and investigation is ongoing.
