BSF jawan arrested for killing wife, staging fall from roof in Punjab

The Punjab Police have arrested a Border Security Force jawan, Amarjit Singh, for allegedly murdering his wife Rama and staging the death as an accident. Singh reportedly told his wife's family that she had fallen from the roof of their house and was taken to the Civil Hospital in Hajipur.

The family became suspicious after noticing multiple injury marks on Rama's body at the hospital. Her father, Ram Chand, filed a complaint alleging that Singh had beaten and killed Rama and that the roof-fall claim was a cover-up. The FIR states Rama had been subjected to harassment and physical assault by her husband during their 12-year marriage.

Police have also registered a case against Singh's uncle Kuldeep Kuki and aunt Sonia, who are absconding. Hajipur Police Station House Officer Inspector Harprem Singh confirmed Amarjit Singh has been arrested and the investigation is ongoing. Rama's body has been handed over to her family.
