Army jawan arrested for killing wife, faking fall

An Army jawan was arrested in Punjab's Hoshiarpur district for allegedly beating his wife to death and trying to pass it off as a fall from the roof. Amarjeet Singh, who returned home on leave on August 13, is accused of assaulting his wife Rama. Police said he initially claimed she fell from the roof.

The victim's family grew suspicious after seeing multiple injury marks on her body. They filed a complaint, leading to an FIR against Amarjeet, his uncle Kuldeep, and aunt Sonia for allegedly covering up the crime. The couple have two children.

Amarjeet has been taken into custody while the other two accused remain absconding. Police have conducted a post-mortem examination and the investigation is ongoing.
