Neeraj Chopra silver, Yash Vir Singh bronze at CWG

India's Neeraj Chopra won silver and Yash Vir Singh bronze in the men's javelin throw final at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow on Friday. Chopra's best effort of 85.83m and Singh's personal best of 85.41m secured a rare double podium for India in athletics. Sri Lanka's Rumesh Pathirage took gold with his only valid throw of 89.75m.

The trio of Chopra, Rohit Yadav, and Yashvir Singh had earlier advanced to the final after qualifying in the top 12 on Thursday. Sportstar reported that Pathirage ended a 20-year gold medal drought for Sri Lanka. Chopra, who won gold in 2018, could not repeat that performance but added a second CWG medal to his collection.
