Collectors lead 80th Independence Day celebrations across Vellore region

Vellore Collector P.S. Leela Alex unfurled the tricolour and reviewed the Guard of Honour at Nethaji Stadium on Saturday, marking the 80th Independence Day. She honoured 66 freedom fighters' family members and distributed appreciation certificates to 241 government staff. Earlier, she hoisted the flag at Vellore Fort and paid floral tributes at the Mahatma Gandhi statue.

In Tiruvannamalai, Collector Vandana Garg gave merit certificates to 552 government officers and NGO representatives, while Ranipet Collector Priya Ravichandran distributed welfare assistance worth Rs 1.03 crore to 26 beneficiaries and certificates to 388 staff. Tirupattur Collector G. Ravikumar hoisted the flag at Pachal village, distributing benefits to beneficiaries and awarding 344 staff. Security arrangements included over 2,500 police personnel deployed across all four districts.
