Ghaziabad man shot by neighbour after census row

A 55-year-old man, Virendra Tyagi, was shot by his neighbour in Ghaziabad's Muradnagar area on Saturday night after a dispute over sharing census information, police said. The incident occurred in Adarsh Nagar Colony when Tyagi was sitting in his verandah. He is in critical condition at a hospital.

Police have detained the accused, Rampal Chaudhary. During questioning, Chaudhary allegedly claimed he was upset because Tyagi had accompanied census officials to his house and helped them with information for the ongoing enumeration. The weapon used is being examined and further inquiry is underway.
