India wins four more medals on Day 2, shooting leads tally to six

India added four more medals on Day 2 of the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya, taking its tally to six, four silver and two bronze, but the wait for a first gold continues. Shooting delivered three medals: Himanshu Dhillon won silver and Rudrankksh Patil bronze in the men's 10m air rifle individual event, and the duo combined with Parth Mane to take team silver. Elavenil Valarivan had already won silver in the women's 10m air rifle individual event earlier, losing the lead in the final shots to Japan's Taichi Hinata.

Suchika Tariyal became India's first Asian Games medallist in mixed martial arts, winning bronze in the women's traditional 60kg category. However, her semifinal ended in a draw and she was around 700 grams heavier than her Singaporean opponent at the morning weigh-in, under rules, the lighter athlete advances, so Suchika settled for bronze in tears. India sits 12th in the medal table, with China leading at 23 golds, followed by Japan and South Korea. The women's cricket team plays for gold against Sri Lanka on Day 4.
