Kapil Sahu joins Jagan team to revive YSRCP for 2029 polls

Former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has brought in political strategist Kapil Sahu, a former I-PAC member, to help revive the YSR Congress Party after its 2024 Assembly election defeat, according to party sources. Sahu, who previously worked with Tamil actor-politician Vijay's TVK, has reportedly started preparing a campaign roadmap.

Sources told Greatandhra that Sahu and his team have held several rounds of talks with Jagan and submitted a draft master plan for the 2029 polls. The plan includes strengthening the party's spokesperson system, a fresh digital strategy targeting younger voters, and a review of grassroots activities. Jagan has also announced plans for a padayatra next year.

The YSRCP was reduced to just 11 seats in the 2024 elections. Sources said Sahu's team is working from Chennai and Bengaluru and is expected to open an office in Vijayawada. Jagan's brother Y. S. Anil Kumar Reddy is believed to have facilitated the talks. An official announcement on Sahu's role is expected soon.
