Jaiswal run out after collision with Rahul, ex-players blame Rahul

Yashasvi Jaiswal was run out on the first day of the Galle Test against Sri Lanka after a mix-up with opening partner KL Rahul. Jaiswal, on 32, tripped over bowler Kasun Nuwansoa and fell to the ground while trying to complete a single. Rahul continued running, and Jaiswal failed to regain his ground before the stumps were broken.

Former India cricketers Cheteshwar Pujara and Aakash Chopra criticized Rahul for the decision. Pujara told Aaj Tak that once Rahul saw Jaiswal on the ground, he should have sacrificed the run to protect the wicket. Chopra described the incident as a clear communication breakdown, adding that Rahul's focus on the ball prevented him from spotting his partner's fall.

Rahul went on to score 77 before retiring hurt with cramps. India's batting coach Sitanshu Kotak later confirmed that Rahul's injury was not serious and he would be available to bat again in the innings.
