Japan sweeps all four titles at World Surf League Shore Temple Classic

Japan completed a clean sweep at the World Surf League Shore Temple Classic QS 2000 and Pro Junior in Mamallapuram on Saturday, winning all four categories. Ikko Watanabe took the Open men's title with a score of 17.10, edging compatriot Tenshi Iwami by 0.33 points. Watanabe also posted the highest single-wave score of the event.

Mirai Ikeda won the Open women's crown with 14.00, defeating Thailand's Isabel Higgs by 1.60 points. In the Pro Junior divisions, Yuma Nagasawa (14.17) and Hinata Shimizu (14.23) prevailed in the men's and women's events respectively. Arun Vasu, president of the Surfing Federation of India, indicated two WSL events could be hosted next year, with the Andaman Islands already confirmed for one.
