JD(S) functionary arrested for assaulting Bengaluru traffic cop

Bengaluru police arrested JD(S) functionary Manjunath C, 65, on Sunday for allegedly attacking traffic constable Arun Manjappa at Gottigere junction. The constable had stopped Manjunath's car to let oncoming vehicles pass.

According to the FIR, Manjunath punched the constable in the face, tried to kick him in the private parts, and threatened to prevent him from working in the area. Police arrested Manjunath at his home early Monday and produced him before a local court, which granted conditional bail on health grounds.

The Times of India reports that three other people were in the car with Manjunath but only he was arrested for the attack.
