Jharkhand protesters plan to gherao CM Soren’s home on August 20

Job aspirants protesting alleged irregularities in Jharkhand recruitment exams have announced they will gherao Chief Minister Hemant Soren's official residence on August 20, demanding his resignation. The JPSC-JSSC Reforms Manch, leading the agitation, said protesters will also burn effigies of Soren and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi across all 24 districts on Sunday.

Hindustan Times reports that the protest entered its 23rd day on Sunday. Reforms Manch leader Ravindra Paswan said, "We seek his resignation as both the JMM and the Congress are playing politics with us." The group also demanded that Rahul Gandhi withdraw Congress support from the JMM-led coalition. Times Now adds that protesters took out a 'Tiranga Yatra' in Ranchi on Saturday to mark Independence Day.

The protesters have three main demands: cancellation of the JSSC-CGL and other exams where irregularities were found, and a CBI probe or an inquiry by a panel of retired judges from outside Jharkhand. Soren said investigations would be conducted impartially and anyone found guilty would face legal action, but no one would be declared guilty without evidence.
