Kerala hospitals told to display doctor details, timings clearly

Kerala Health Minister K. Muraleedharan has ordered all government hospitals to put up clear signboards showing doctor details, OP clinic days and timings. The directive follows complaints about doctors being absent during outpatient hours, causing long waits for patients.

The Minister has told the Principal Secretary (Health) to implement the order urgently in all government health institutions, from primary health centres to taluk hospitals. Boards must list sanctioned posts, current vacancies, each doctor's OP hours and consultation schedules, and be updated regularly.

Contact details of the Deputy District Medical Officer (Vigilance) must also be displayed for public complaints. Mr. Muraleedharan said the government must ensure timely treatment and no lapses in care. The display boards should be put up without delay.
