Kerala to install sanitary napkin vending machines at public places
The Kerala government will install sanitary napkin vending machines and incinerators at public places, including tourist destinations and KSRTC terminals, under a project named WOMN (Women on the Move & Menstrual Needs). The Women and Child Development Department will launch the initiative on 6 October as part of the state government's 100-day action programme.
Women and Child Development Minister Bindu Krishna will inaugurate the project at the Thampanoor KSRTC bus terminal at 5 pm on 6 October. The initiative aims to make sanitary napkins available to women and girls at affordable rates during travel and provide facilities for environment-friendly disposal.
Indian Opinion Analysis
Both Deccan Chronicle and The Times of India report the WOMN project in identical wire-style terms, leading with the initiative's scope and launch date, naming Minister Bindu Krishna and the Thampanoor terminal. Neither outlet adds commentary, background on menstrual health policy, or political context. The coverage is uniform straight reporting. The key watch item is the 6 October inauguration, which will mark the rollout of the first machine and signal the pace of the 100-day action programme.
