Krafton to launch BGMI Lite in India by end of 2026

Krafton India announced on Sunday that Battlegrounds Mobile India Lite (BGMI Lite) will launch in India by the end of 2026. The Lite version is aimed at players whose devices cannot run the standard BGMI, which is nearly 2GB in size. Krafton says it will share more gameplay features and details closer to launch.

BGMI has already crossed 260 million downloads in India, according to Krafton. The company has conducted a survey in India asking players directly if they wanted a Lite version. The Times of India notes that when PUBG Mobile Lite launched in India in 2019, it crossed 10 million downloads in three days. Data from January to June 2020 showed that 66 per cent of PUBG Mobile's downloads in India came from the Lite version.

Krafton expects BGMI Lite to run seamlessly on phones with as little as 2GB RAM, with a smaller download size and reduced textures. The launch is part of a broader effort to expand the BGMI universe, the company said.
