Maharashtra FDA issues notices to SRK, Ajay Devgn, Tiger Shroff over Vimal ads

The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA), led by food safety chief Tukaram Mundhe, has sent a nine-page show-cause notice to actors Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, and Tiger Shroff for indirectly promoting pan masala through advertisements for 'Vimal Elaichi'. The notice, issued on Friday, alleges the ads violate the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.

The FDA's action is part of a wider crackdown on gutkha and pan masala containing tobacco or nicotine. According to some reports, the FDA is coordinating with police to invoke the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) in cases involving organised networks dealing in banned products. The actors have not yet publicly responded to the notices.
