MDU teachers serve legal notice over delayed pay fixation

The Maharshi Dayanand University Teachers’ Association has served a legal notice on the university administration over delayed pay fixation, stopped annual increments and proposed recovery of PhD increments granted eight to 10 years ago. The disputes affect around 80 teachers, according to the association.

MDUTA president Pradeep Kumar Gehlot said teachers promoted as associate professors and professors over the past three years had not received revised pay or related benefits, including dearness allowance, house rent allowance and NPS contributions. The association has sought restoration of increments and a halt to the recoveries, citing government directives and court rulings. The university spokesperson said the pay-related issue was under examination and was being taken up on priority. If the matters are not resolved, MDUTA will hold a general body meeting to decide on peaceful protests, including wearing black badges.
