Nagpur corporators attack OCW over inflated water bills

At the Nagpur Municipal Corporation general body meeting on Thursday, corporators from across party lines attacked Orange City Water (OCW) over inflated water bills, contaminated supply and irregular distribution. Muslim League group leader Aslam Khan questioned how consumers could be charged hefty bills when many areas receive water for only two to three hours a day, and some localities get supply once every one or two days. NCP corporator Abha Pandey alleged that water meters were running due to air in pipelines, and that neither the NMC water supply department nor OCW had acted on complaints.

Several corporators said even their own homes were receiving contaminated water. They also criticised OCW for leaving roads dug up for pipeline work without proper restoration. Mayor Neeta Thakre directed the civic administration to prepare a concrete action plan to resolve the complaints and provide relief to consumers facing irregular supply, contaminated water and billing problems.
