Odisha gives ₹1.10 lakh aid to heritage Durga Puja committees

The Odisha government will provide financial assistance of up to ₹1.10 lakh each to Durga Puja committees, Culture Minister Suryabanshi Suraj announced on Saturday. The aid aims to promote cultural heritage and support traditional festivities.

Committees have been divided into three categories: heritage Durga Pujas, those 75 years old, and those 50 years old. The Hindu reports that 215 heritage Pujas will receive ₹1.10 lakh each, while 197 committees in the second category get ₹75,000 and 673 in the third get ₹50,000.

In total, 1,085 committees will get assistance, with the government spending ₹7.14 crore, Mr Suraj said.
