Pak warship collides with Indian vessel, India summons diplomat

A Pakistan Navy vessel, PNS Hunain, collided with an Indian warship in the North Arabian Sea on the evening of September 15 after manoeuvring in an "unprofessional and unsafe" manner, according to Indian officials. India's Ministry of External Affairs summoned Pakistan's Charge d'Affaires Saad Warraich and lodged a strong protest, stating the incident violated the 1991 bilateral agreement on advance notice for military exercises, which mandates a minimum three-nautical-mile distance between naval vessels. India said no major damage was caused to its warship, while Pakistani sources reported PNS Hunain returned to harbour with severe damage.

Pakistan's foreign ministry countered by summoning Indian Charge d'Affaires Satyanjal Pandey and alleging that an Indian vessel carried out "aggressive maneuvers in dangerously close proximity" to a Pakistani naval ship within Pakistan's Exclusive Economic Zone. Islamabad claimed the incident risked escalating tensions and violated international law. The Indian captain was praised by officials for showing restraint. This is the first reported collision between the two navies since the Pahalgam terror attack in April 2025 triggered cross-border hostilities.
