PMC sets March 2027 deadline for Katraj-Kondhwa road widening

The Pune Municipal Corporation has set a March 2027 deadline for completing the Katraj-Kondhwa Road widening project, after missing the earlier June 2026 target set by municipal commissioner Naval Kishore Ram. Land acquisition delays have stalled the project for over a decade, with only about 100 of 109 required properties acquired so far. The road, originally planned as 84 metres wide and later revised to 50 metres, connects the Pune-Satara and Pune-Solapur highways and serves over two lakh vehicles daily.

Commissioner Ram reviewed progress on Wednesday and said remaining land and utility issues have been resolved. He thanked Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for ensuring land acquisition funds. The project's foundation stone was laid in 2017, but less than half the work has been completed. Residents have endured congestion, potholes and waterlogging on the corridor for years. The PMC has launched demolition drives and warned it will use police assistance to take possession of properties not handed over voluntarily.
