Congress Seeks Alternative Venue After Prayagraj Student Event Permission Revoked

The Kayastha Pathshala Trust withdrew permission for Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ programme at K.P. Ground in Prayagraj, scheduled for August 8. The trust cited an Allahabad High Court order restricting the ground’s use to sports and educational activities. It also mentioned waterlogging, rain-related safety concerns and possible disruption to academic activities. Permission had reportedly been conditional on approval from the district magistrate.

Congress leaders said Gandhi’s interaction with students would proceed and urged the Uttar Pradesh government and district administration to provide another venue. The programme is expected to discuss alleged examination paper leaks and other student concerns. Priyanka Gandhi and other Congress leaders alleged political obstruction, while the venue provider cited administrative, academic and weather-related reasons.
