Priyanka Chopra unveils cover of Sridevi biography Empress

Priyanka Chopra unveiled the cover of 'Empress: The Definitive Biography of Sridevi' on the late actor's birth anniversary, August 13. Written by Dhiraj Kumar and published by Westland Books, the book covers Sridevi's five-decade career across five languages and more than 300 films, according to a press release.

The biography includes seven forewords by leading film personalities and over 150 rare photographs. Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma, who contributed a chapter, told Variety India he was told his chapter is the best in the book, though he remains sceptical. Varma described directing Sridevi in 'Kshanam Kshanam' as like 'staying at a 7-star hotel' and said he still cannot understand the craft behind some of her performances.

'Empress' also features tributes from Amitabh Bachchan, who calls Sridevi the 'epitome of unmitigated talent', and actor Brahmanandam, who describes her as a 'rarest of rare actor'. The book is scheduled for a pan-India release in late 2026.
