Rajasthan HC constitutes 25 benches as all judges shift to Jaipur

The Rajasthan High Court has set up 25 benches for Friday, comprising four larger benches, six division benches and 15 single benches, as all 39 judges from the Principal Seat in Jodhpur and the Jaipur Bench will hear cases from Jaipur. Matters from the Jodhpur Principal Seat will be taken up through video conferencing. The special arrangement allows judicial work to continue while judges attend a three-day international conference on peace, mediation and the rule of law, beginning Friday evening.

The conference, hosted by the Rajasthan State Legal Services Authority, will bring together judges, senior advocates, mediators, scholars and policymakers from Commonwealth countries. Larger benches will hear several significant issues, including whether cases involving senior citizens, women, children and persons with disabilities should be prioritised, a petition from 1989 concerning installation of a Manu statue in the Jaipur Bench premises, and eligibility of convicts under the POCSO Act and those sentenced for rape of minors for transfer to open prisons.
