Rajasthan to introduce Uniform Civil Code in 2026

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma on Saturday announced the state will introduce the Rajasthan Civil Code 2026, aligning with Article 44 of the Constitution, which envisions a Uniform Civil Code. Speaking at the state-level Independence Day function in Jaipur, Sharma said the proposed law aims to create a uniform legal framework for all citizens.

Sharma also highlighted the government's zero-tolerance policy on crime and corruption, crediting it for a reduction in crime and improved peace. He cited laws against unlawful religious conversions and said the state is focused on becoming a 'Viksit Rajasthan' by 2047, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's national vision.

The chief minister noted Rajasthan's lead in solar power capacity and second rank nationally in renewable energy. Key projects mentioned include the HPCL Rajasthan Refinery at Pachpadra and the Mahi-Banswara nuclear power project, as the state pushes towards self-reliance in power generation.
