Ramayana Chinese edit may be 33 minutes shorter, trailer wows China

The Chinese version of Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana may be 33 minutes shorter than the Indian theatrical cut, according to a report in Mid-Day cited by Times Now. A source told the portal that the film, retitled Ramayana: The Legend of the Prince for China, must comply with the country's Film Industry Promotion Law, which restricts content that undermines religious policies or promotes superstition. The makers have not officially confirmed the difference.

Meanwhile, Hindustan Times reports that the trailer has gone viral in China, crossing a million views within hours. Chinese viewers praised its visual scale, with some comparing it favourably to Hollywood and domestic blockbusters like the Fengshen series. Many lamented that local filmmakers cannot match such treatment of mythology. One comment called the film 'India's own Odyssey'.

Ramayana stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Yash as Ravana, and Sai Pallavi as Sita. The two-part epic, produced by Prime Focus Studios and Monster Mind Creations, will be distributed globally by Sony Pictures. Part One releases worldwide on November 6 and in India on November 8.
