Real Kashmir FC series gets International Emmy nomination

SonyLIV's 'Real Kashmir Football Club' has been nominated for an International Emmy Award in the Drama Series category, announced on September 23. The eight-episode Hindi sports drama stars Manav Kaul and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, and is inspired by the true story of Real Kashmir FC, the first professional football club from Jammu and Kashmir. The India Today report calls it a tale of community, resilience and hope that gives a global platform to a Kashmir-set story beyond familiar conflict and tourism narratives.

Comedian Vir Das also earned a nomination in the Comedy category for his stand-up special 'Vir Das: Fool Volume', his third International Emmy nod, Cinema Express reports. Manav Kaul told Hindustan Times he felt the project had not got its due credit earlier and hopes the nomination brings it wider viewership. Showrunner Mahesh Mathai said the team is honoured the series has found global recognition. The winners will be announced later this year.
