Residents seek renaming of two Namma Metro Pink Line stations

Residents of Bilekahalli in Bengaluru are demanding that the IIMB Metro station on Namma Metro's upcoming Pink Line be renamed Bilekahalli-IIMB station, citing the locality's historical significance and the area's well-known identity. The six-station elevated stretch between Kalena Agrahara and Tavarekere is nearing its operational debut, and competing demands have already emerged for at least three other stations along the corridor.

Forest minister Ramalinga Reddy has separately sought renaming JP Nagar 4th Phase as NS Palya, Tavarekere as SG Palya and Dairy Circle as Lakkasandra. Another representation seeks renaming Tavarekere station as Bismillah Nagar. Greater Bengaluru Development minister Krishna Byre Gowda and KPCC president BK Hariprasad have written to BMRCL backing the Bilekahalli demand. BMRCL must decide on all requests before the line opens.
