Rubio credits Trump-Modi bond for stronger US-India ties

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has greeted India on its 80th Independence Day, saying the personal relationship between President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made bilateral ties stronger than ever. In a statement on Friday, Rubio said the deep bonds of friendship and family between the two countries underpin a partnership that is innovative, resilient and forward-looking.

Rubio listed defence, energy security, critical minerals, artificial intelligence, space cooperation and commerce as areas where US-India collaboration is making both nations and the wider Indian Ocean region safer and more prosperous. Several US states have issued proclamations marking August 15 as 'India Day', highlighting the growing contribution of the Indian diaspora.
