Security forces launch search in Udhampur, bust Rajouri hideout

Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir launched a joint cordon-and-search operation in the Ramnagar forest area of Udhampur district on Sunday after inputs about suspicious movement of two unidentified persons, greaterkashmir.com reported. A team of police, Special Operations Group, Army and other agencies cordoned off the Jophar area. Senior officers are supervising the operation, which includes vehicle checks.

Separately, security forces on Thursday evening busted a terror hideout in the Bangai forest of Rajouri district, The Hans India reported. The hideout, built amid thick vegetation, was not visible until close inspection. Recovered items included rice, instant noodles, a knife, a lighter, a plastic sheet, an old blanket, a gas stove nozzle, two candles, and a plastic bottle.

Security forces and the Army remain on high alert along the International Border, the Line of Control, and in border districts including Rajouri and Poonch. Intelligence agencies believe terrorists on the run are likely to be caught in cordon-and-search operations carried out periodically.
