Shiv Sena UBT demands apology after SC clears Manmohan Singh

The Shiv Sena (UBT) has demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP apologise for past allegations against former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, after the Supreme Court granted a complete posthumous clean chit to him in the Talabira-II coal block allocation case. The party made the demand in an editorial in its mouthpiece 'Saamana' on Friday.

The case related to the allocation of the Talabira-II coal block in Odisha. A special court had issued summons to Dr Singh in 2015, but the Supreme Court later stayed proceedings. The final verdict clearing him came after his death.

The editorial said Dr Singh was 'Mr Clean' and never needed judicial validation to prove his integrity. It questioned whether Prime Minister Modi would now admit the allegations were false and politically motivated, and asked if he would offer an apology to the nation or to the soul of Dr Singh.
