Sunny Deol’s debut film Betaab marks 43 years in Hindi cinema

Sunny Deol marked 43 years in Hindi cinema on the anniversary of Betaab's release on 5 August 1983, ABP Live reported. Directed by Rahul Rawail, the romantic drama was the acting debut of both Sunny Deol and Amrita Singh, and also featured Prem Chopra, Shammi Kapoor and Nirupa Roy, with songs including Jab Hum Jawan Honge and Badal Yun Garajta Hai. The report noted that singer Sonu Nigam made his acting debut in the film as a child artist playing a young Sunny Deol, that filmmaker David Dhawan worked as its editor before becoming a director, and that writer Javed Akhtar penned the story, one of his first major successes after parting ways with Salim Khan. Made on a reported budget of Rs 1.35 to 1.50 crore, Betaab is said to have earned around Rs 5.25 to 5.50 crore at the box office. Marking the anniversary, Sunny Deol posted a video on social media saying the film began his journey and that the audience's love has been his greatest strength.
