Tamil Nadu fishing boat seized off Andhra coast

Fisheries department officials and Marine Police intercepted a Tamil Nadu fishing boat off the Krishnapatnam coast on Sunday, alleging it was fishing in Andhra Pradesh territorial waters. The boat, registered as IND-TN-02-2485, was seized around 1 pm, about 6 km from Krishnapatnam Port, with seven fishermen on board.

The vessel was brought to Juvvaladinne Fishing Harbour and handed over to the Isukapalli Station House Officer for safe custody and legal action. Assistant Director of Fisheries S.K. Chand Basha said the department has seized seven boats from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry since June 31, 2026, and Sunday's seizure is the eighth.

All boats are berthed at Juvvaladinne Fishing Harbour. The task force patrol included officials from the fisheries department and police. Legal proceedings are pending.
