Tasmac staff must wear uniforms from November 15 or face action

Employees at Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (Tasmac) retail outlets must wear prescribed uniforms from November 15. Supervisors will wear light blue shirts with navy blue trousers, while salesmen and assistant salesmen will wear beige shirts with dark grey trousers. Each employee will receive three uniform sets. The government has sanctioned an annual uniform allowance of ₹6,000 per employee, credited to their bank accounts every April.

The fabric must be bought only from state-run Co-optex outlets by October 31, and stitching completed by November 10. If employees face practical difficulties in procuring uniforms, they will receive the allowance instead. India Today reports that inspections will begin from mid-November, and employees who draw the allowance but fail to wear the uniform without valid reason will face recovery of funds and disciplinary action. The Hindu does not mention such penalties but notes a 2019 uniform rollout for elite outlets that did not take off.
