Teen dies as lorry hits two-wheeler on Hyderabad highway

A 16-year-old intermediate student, Shravani, died on the spot when a lorry hit the scooter she was riding with her parents on the Hyderabad-Warangal Highway near Ghatkesar on Saturday morning. The accident occurred around 11:30 AM near Vandana Hotel, police said.

Shravani was travelling with her father Suresh and mother Uma from their home in Warasiguda to their native place in Warangal for a family function. Siasat.com reports the mother suffered a fractured hand, while the father escaped unhurt. Telangana Today adds that the truck ran over the girl after the impact threw all three onto the road.

The lorry driver was beaten by passersby and handed over to police, who are questioning him. A case of accidental death has been registered. Police said the cause will be determined after reviewing CCTV footage.
