The Vijayawada division of South Coast Railway (SCoR) has recorded a gross originating revenue of about Rs 4,894 crore in the first four months of the current financial year, Divisional Railway Manager Mohit Sonakiya said at the 80th Independence Day celebrations in Vijayawada on Saturday.
Freight loading touched 32.084 million tonnes, generating around Rs 3,343 crore, while passenger fares earned about Rs 1,356 crore from a passenger traffic of 58.61 million, the DRM said. He added that 76 special trains were operated and 408 additional coaches attached to meet demand.
Mr. Sonakiya hoisted the national flag and received a guard of honour. He later presented medals and certificates to 18 students from local schools and the Bharat Scouts and Guides for winning essay and painting competitions held under the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign.
